Q
Do I need to be in crisis to start therapy?
No. Waiting until you are in crisis is one of the most common reasons people start therapy later than would have been useful. Therapy works better when anxiety has not yet become fully entrenched. The best time to start is when anxiety is affecting your life in a way you can describe specifically, even if it is not yet overwhelming.
Q
What if I cannot afford therapy?
Online therapy is significantly more affordable than in-person therapy, often 50 to 70% cheaper per month. The platform we recommend offers structured anxiety programmes at a fixed monthly cost with 20% off for the first month. For many people this works out cheaper per month than assuming therapy is out of reach without actually checking.
Q
What if I am not sure therapy will help me?
CBT for anxiety has one of the strongest evidence bases in mental health treatment, with response rates consistently above 60% and effects that persist after treatment ends. The uncertainty about whether it will help is itself often a symptom of anxiety. Starting and seeing is more reliable than deciding in advance that it will not work.
Q
How is online therapy different from seeing someone in person?
The evidence shows online CBT for anxiety produces equivalent outcomes to in-person therapy. The main practical differences are cost, access and flexibility. Online therapy removes the commute, the waiting room and most of the scheduling constraints. For anxiety specifically, being able to do therapy from a comfortable environment can actually reduce the barrier to starting and staying consistent.
Q
What other tools can help me understand my anxiety before starting?
The
Anxiety Level Test gives you a full severity score to take into your first session. The
Is Therapy Right for Me quiz specifically evaluates whether now is the right moment based on your life context and barriers.
